The Gifts of Imperfection

The Gifts of Imperfection
Let go of who you think you’re supposed to be and embrace who you are
Your guide to a wholehearted life
Brené Brown

Fans of Brené Brown will not need any convincing that any book of hers is worth a read. If you haven’t heard of Brené Brown, where have you been? She is a shame researcher who covers all the in-your-face emotions such as vulnerability, courage, worthiness and shame. There is so much shame around money. Shame if you don’t have enough and shame if you have too much. As you improve your money management skills you will naturally become wealthier as you will no longer be spending more than you earn. As silly as this might sound the capacity to have money is new territory for many people, learning to be comfortable with what you have without feeling shame is something you may be surprised is a byproduct of getting your act together financially. Although this book doesn’t cover finance in any way it presents some pretty amazing findings on the results of living a wholehearted life and facing shame head on.

The Richest Man in Babylon

The Richest Man in Babylon
The success secrets of the ancients- the most inspiring book on wealth ever written
George S. Clason

According to the blurb this book contains the ‘secrets to acquiring money, keeping money, and making money earn more money’. Indeed very important concepts to get your head around if you want to increase your wealth. The author, Clason presents these concepts through telling tales from an ancient time in Babylon. There is no doubt this book teaches the broad concepts of acquiring wealth. I particularly liked the point raised that if you want to learn about something, anything for that matter, study is required. Seek out people who are already proficient in the knowledge you are trying to acquire and then study them. So true! However, for the time poor modern woman there may be other books better suited that explain the same concepts but with actual actionable steps that can be implemented in the modern world.

59 Biggest Mistakes made by Property Investors

59 Biggest Mistakes made by Property Investors
And how to avoid them
Helen Colier-Kogtevs

This book is simple and straightforward. In five parts: Planning, Financials, Purchasing, Property management and What are you thinking? Colier-Kogtevs outlines 59 mistakes investors make and then she presents a solution to the problem. If you are interested in investing in property this book exposes you to a lot of concepts, topics, and issues property investors face that you probably don’t even know you don’t know. I also like Colier-Kogtevs voice. She is quite sassy and blunt, attributes I personally find endearing.
